Tempa Sherrill M.S., LPC
Founder & CEO
Tempa Sherrill is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. She is the spouse a retired police officer, Marine and Army veteran. She works within a Cognitive Behavioral theoretical framework and believes in addressing the holistic needs of the client. Tempa taught high school for 18 years until she felt the calling to help veteran and families after her husband’s deployment. She worked at a counseling agency in Fort Worth for over 3 years, where she developed and managed a successful veteran’s program. It has been her dream to step out on her own to start a stand-alone nonprofit agency for veterans, first responders and families. Tempa believes that those who serve our country and risk their lives for others are owed our service in helping them heal as individuals and families.
Dr. Marianne DuMond EdD, LPC, CCTP
Dr. Marianne Horne is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor with an Educational Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Texas Wesleyan University. Her undergrad work was also at Texas Wesleyan in Art. Her brother is an Air Force veteran. Marianne works within a Solution-Focused perspective in an integrated form of therapy including Narrative, Art, Experiential, and Mindfulness Meditation. Marianne has over six years experience working with Veterans Treatment Court with a 96% success rate with justice involved veterans and 87% with civilian clients. She created veterancentric groups to focus upon needs for overcoming self-medication and building toward Post Traumatic Success while working for nine years at North Texas Addiction Counseling and Education in Arlington. This client informed treatment builds empowerment, awakens capability, and refocuses positivity. Marianne believes that it is our obligation to help sustain the men and women who have nobly served our nation as Veterans, First Responders and their Families.
Tarah Toney is the daughter of an OEF Combat Veteran / Retired Police Officer of 22 years, as well as the daughter of the founder of Stay The Course. She is also the granddaughter of a Vietnam Veteran and a Korean War Veteran. She currently works as the Operations Manager and Event Coordinator for Stay The Course. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in English and Writing from McMurry University, and served as the Market Center Administrator for a local residential real estate brokerage for 5 years, while holding her Texas Real Estate license for 7 years. Due to her personal experience with the struggles military families face when their loved one returns home from combat, she is passionate about serving those who put their lives on the line for the safety of our nation and our communities. Tarah seeks to aid in the growth of Stay The Course through continued administrative and systems operations, while expanding our network through outreach and development initiatives.
Alex Oppong, LMFT-A
Client Services Coordinator
Alexandria Oppong, Client Services Coordinator, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist-Associate under the supervision of Russ Bartee, Ph.D., LMFT. Alexandria has a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Wesleyan University. She received her Bachelor’s degree in marriage and family education from The University of Central Oklahoma. Alexandria’s military connection is through her grandfather who served in the United States Air Force and was a WWII veteran and her uncle who served his deployment with the United States Army in Mosul, Iraq from 2006-2007. Alexandria’s first responder connection is through her cousin who is an officer for the Enid Police Department. Her passion to work with veterans stems from her families’ personal experience of her uncle’s deployment. After her practicum experience at Stay The Course, Alexandria knew that her calling was to help veterans, first responders, and their families and is proud to serve at Stay The Course.
Veteran Services Coordinator
Rusty is an Army Veteran who has two combat deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. Throughout his military career he served as a military police officer with advanced training in interview and interrogation, and SWAT. Following his personal struggles with post traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, substance abuse, and a suicide attempt; he chose to utilize his life experiences by assisting fellow Veterans and First Responders. Rusty currently serves as the office administrator and outreach coordinator for Stay The Course; and previously served as administrative staff for Honor Courage Commitment, Inc. and 22KILL, as well as the Veteran’s Liaison at Collin College. He has a Bachelor’s of Social Work (BSW) from the University of North Texas, and is currently pursuing his Masters Degree in Social Work from Texas State. He has a strong passion to advocate for and empower those that have sacrificed for our country, both at home and abroad. Rusty aims to further the growth of Stay The Course through the expansion of programs, resources, and outreach.
Matthew Drumm, LPC
Matthew has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. He is a retired police officer from Irving Police Department where he retired at the rank of sergeant with 20 years in law enforcement. Matthew also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 14 years as an Agent in Army C.I.D. During this time he was assigned missions inside and outside the United States. Matt has a unique perspective in helping our military, police and first responders as he has dealt with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression and generalized anxiety. He, his family & close friends know firsthand the stress, heart break and uncertainty that untreated trauma can bring. Matt is proud to be a member of Stay the Course and believes in its’ mission to help our warriors, those on the line every day and their families.
